From the establishment of the Institute of International Energy Studies to the establishment and development of the Petroleum Institute in the country's top universities.

Establishment of the Institute of International Energy Studies

The Institute of International Energy Studies affiliated to the Ministry of Oil was established in 1370 in order to respond to the study and research needs in the field of energy economy, especially oil and gas, in order to serve the policy makers and planners of the country. In 1375, this institute succeeded in obtaining a license from the Development Council of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology for research and educational activities at the postgraduate level and was included among the scientific research institutes of the country. The Institute of International Energy Studies has completed more than 430 study and research projects in the last 10 years alone.

Development of Oil Industry University

Educational activities at high levels in Iran's oil industry officially started in 1318 with the establishment of Abadan Technical College. With the development of this school, its name was changed to Abadan Technical College and then to Abadan Institute of Technology. Due to the expansion of the educational activities of Abadan Oil College and the country's need to train specialists in the oil and gas industries, this college was promoted to the University of Petroleum Industry in 1368.

In 1368, after the end of war conditions in the country, with the issuance of a license to establish the University of Oil Industry by the Ministry of Culture and Higher Education, all the educational institutions in the Ministry of Oil came under the umbrella of the university. In order to achieve the desired goals of the industry and based on the regulations of the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution and the permission of the Development Council of the Ministry of Culture and Higher Education, the Ministry of Oil also established other scientific, educational and research centers at different levels, while covering the educational units in the oil industry. did Among them, we can mention the establishment of Abadan Shahid Tandgoyan College of Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering in February 1370 at the former site of Abadan Oil College and the Research Center of the University of Oil Industry in 1371 at the site of Ahvaz Oil College.

Development of oil industry research institute

The Research Institute of Oil Industry was established in 1338 under the name of "Research Development Department of Iran National Oil Company" and its primary purpose was research in the field of the use of petroleum products. After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the name of this organization was changed to "Research and Scientific Services Center" and it developed activities in line with the desired goals. In 1368, according to the basic agreement of the Development Council of the Ministry of Culture and Higher Education, this center was named "Oil Industry Research Center" and continued its activities with the aim of conducting basic, applied and developmental research.

The strategy of the Oil Industry Research Institute is to create added value through the production and commercialization of technology with the principle approach of conducting research for the development and internalization of new technologies, and the activities of the research institute are in three sets: "Research and Development Campus for Upstream Oil Industries", "Campus "Research and Development of Oil Downstream Industries" and "Energy and Environment Research and Development Campus" are followed. In the last 10 years, the Oil Industry Research Institute has managed to register 110 international patents and 46 international technical knowledge.

The research center for increasing extraction from oil and gas reservoirs was established in 1328, which was upgraded to the research center for increasing extraction from oil and gas reservoirs by obtaining a license from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in early 2003. More than 30 research projects have been completed in this center in the last 10 years.
